Tijuana Flats Recognizes Employees and Partners During Annual Conference Awards Ceremony

Tijuana Flats, notorious for its mouth-numbing hot sauce and fresh Tex-Mex food, recently recognized a number of individuals for their outstanding commitment and dedication at an awards ceremony during the 9th annual Tijuana Flats Business Review and Celebration. The company hosted the awards ceremony to recognize the employee efforts that help create an enjoyable working environment and a memorable dining experience.

“A key element of any company’s success is the customer service it provides,” said Tijuana Flats’ founder, Brian Wheeler. “The employees that were recognized enable Tijuana Flats to provide excellent customer service and ensure the overall success of the restaurant, year after year.”

The Tijuana Flats 2010 Operator  of the Year was awarded to Matthew Law, general manager of the Hunters Creek location in Orlando, Fla., for his level of commitment to the company, his employees and his guests.

Additional awards that were distributed during the 2010 Tijuana Flats Business Review and Celebration are as follows:

  • Adam Moore—general manager of the College Park location in Orlando, Fla.—received the Best in Financials Award for his ability to successfully achieve the largest opening week and first month sales in the company’s history.
  • Keri Tapuvae—general manager of the Metro West location in Orlando, Fla.—received the award forBest In People Development for his exceptional ability to develop and train employees, leading up to promoting eight different managers to the next level.
  • Thomas Slutsky—general manager of the Cooper City, Fla. location—received the Best in Operations Award for the pride he takes in the level of guest service he provides for his store.
  • Kyle Bingman—area supervisor—received the President’s Cup Award—for his outstanding leadership abilities.  

In addition, Tijuana Flats presented a new award—the Just in Queso Award—named after the company’s not-for-profit charity. This award was presented to Drew Turn, general manager of the Lakewood location in Jacksonville, Fla., for consistently raising record-breaking numbers for the charity.
