Tijuana Flats Raises Over $40,000 for Building Homes for Heroes

Tijuana Flats fired up the 2009 holiday season by raising $46,417 for Building Homes for Heroes through the sale of the restaurant’s five-dollar bottle of “Smack My Ass & Call me Santa!” holiday hot sauce.

The special edition sauce is part of the restaurant’s “Just in Queso” Foundation, which provides aid to individuals, communities and organizations in need.
The money raised will be used to remodel an Orlando soldier’s home who lost his leg fighting while on a mission to rescue Marines that were under attack overseas.
“Tijuana Flats would like to thank every customer who bought a bottle of our holiday sauce this season. Because of them, we are able to provide a true hero with a home that will fit his needs,” said Brian Wheeler, Tijuana Flats owner.
“Smack My Ass & Call me Santa!” was sold between November 27 and December 24, throughout the restaurant’s 70 locations in Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Building Homes for Heroes provides individuals, corporations and others with an opportunity to help the country’s severely wounded and disabled veterans and their families rebuild their lives by constructing homes to meet their needs.

“To date, we have helped five military families along the road to recovery, with plans to help four more over the next two years, two of which are in the state of Florida,” said Andrew McClure, Chief Operating Officer for Building Homes for Heroes. “With support from amazing organizations like Tijuana Flats, we hope to build many more homes and dreams.”
