Tijuana Flats’ “Just in Queso” Foundation Raises Over $3,000 for Curtis/Kocab Memorial Fund
ORLANDO, Fla. (September, 2010)
The Tijuana Flats Just in Queso Foundation recently donated $3,399.28 to the Curtis/Kocab Memorial Fund, a Tampa Police Department memorial fund for the families of fallen Officers Jeffrey Kocab and David Curtis.
Every Monday in August, five Tijuana Flats locations in the Tampa market donated 10 percent of its sales, as well as the proceeds from all sales of its Just in Queso charity hot sauce, to the fund.
“We cannot thank our community enough for the outpouring of support during this very difficult time,” said Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor. “I want to personally thank Tijuana Flats for continuing to raise money for the families for so many weeks after our tragic loss. Their support means a lot to the men and women in blue.”
The five participating locations included: 10019 N. Dale Mabry, 2782 B.E. Fowler, 9520 W. Linebaugh Avenue and 1617 W. Platt Road in Tampa, Fla. and 11007 Causeway Boulevard in Brandon, Fla.
About the Tijuana Flats Just in Queso Foundation® & Charitable Initiatives
Tijuana Flats’ “Just in Queso” Foundation provides aid to individuals, communities and organizations in need when help is least expected. With the “Just in Queso” Foundation, Tijuana Flats is able to have support funds waiting “just in case” a tragedy strikes and people are left in need, including everything from rebuilding areas devastated by natural disasters to providing monetary support for other non-profit charities, families and individuals when they need it most.
The “Just in Queso” Foundation provides financial support primarily through the in-store and online sales of the “Just in Queso” charity hot sauce, as well as the restaurant’s special-edition holiday “Smack My Ass and Call Me Santa” hot sauce. All proceeds from the sale of each $5.00 bottle add to Foundation for times of need. One hundred percent of these donations will be returned to the community nationwide.
For more than 10 years Tijuana Flats has heated up the holiday season for Frontline Outreach’s Head Start Program through donations of uniforms, supplies, field trips and catered parties. In the past, the company’s charitable efforts have also extended beyond tradition community relations efforts by participating in “Kicks For Guns” events; collecting more than 1000 bottles of water for the firefighters battling the brush fires of 1991; raising money for the victims of 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina, as well as the American Red Cross and Soldiers’ Angels; and granting holiday wishes to the children of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
